The Band of the Week is The Wombats. The Wombats are a
great band because they have their own sound that is fantastic. Their
sound seems to mostly come from their unique guitar and base sounds
mostly by Tord Ă˜verland Knudsen that they have through most of their songs which seems to be their signature sound. The beat by their drummer and keyboardist Daniel Haggis
is great as well. Since they have their own sound, some of their songs
can be seen as sounding similar but not in a way that anyone would get
tired of them but in a way that you are almost assured that if you like
one of their songs, that you should like almost every song they have. If
you were listening to their lyrics, you'd hear some hilarious stories
in songs such as Backfire At The Disco and Kill The Director
and also many clever and deep lyrics that one may want to take note of
if looking for something deep to get tattooed on themselves. But they
are also a pretty serious band (as you can possibly tell by a lot of
their pictures). "In the middle of the songs we'd break into
uncontrollable sobbing. The idea was not to be funny," says lead singer Matthew Murphy.
That makes me feel guilty about laughing at some of their lyrics
earlier today... The lead singer is great because he sounds smooth and
also his accent can be heard strongly through all his songs which makes
him stand out a bit compared to many other singers whose accents
disappear in their singing voice. Also, I love all the flowers on Matthew Murphy's guitar. They are adorable and I completely love that it's a guy's guitar. Along with their popular songs Let's Dance To Joy Division and Jump Into The Fog, I suggest you try Girls/ Fast Cars, Our Perfect Disease, Anti-D and Kill The Director.
