Somebody to Someone - Halfway To Hollywood

Halfway To Hollywood is quirky and sweet band that kind of reminds me of an innocent version of All Time Low. It has a low beat and the lead singer, Grant Walker, has a smooth voice. The chimes lift up the song from the deep tones it had before falling into the chorus that picks up the quick dance beat. They really sound like a boy band and should have no trouble catching listeners as their sound is uplifting.

Middle of the Night - Vinyl Thief

The multiple voices are dreamy and pull you down to the light beat that feels like a current. I have a feeling that the back noises are hypnotic. The first few times I heard this song, it didn't make an impression on me until I heard myself singing it. The chorus is simple enough to lodge itself deep into your head. This song will catch you without you knowing but once it has you, you won't want it to let go.

Tonight - Magic Man

Magic Man just released a new music video for their fabulous song Tonight. It's made of clips from their performances while they were on tour with Smallpools. It's entertaining and adorable just like the people in the video. This song is a good time song. Alex Caplow sings with a sweet voice among the strong bass and amazing electro sounds of their usual styling. I look forward to seeing more of Magic Man in the future.

Greek Tragedy - The Wombats

The Wombats just released a new song this week called Greek Tragedy and there is already a video. The tones of something smooth and calm are mixed with the rapid sounds of drums. The guitar spins it all together and brings out a new sound. Ok. This music video is really creepy. What makes it better is that the girl is filming most of it so it's kind of like the Blair Witch Project except we're stalking these guys. The first half is just creepy but the last minute is around when that parental advisory checks in and gets gruesomely fun.

Words - Brendan Ciccone

Brendan Ciccone's song is smooth and beautiful. The guitar is light and the drums are calming. His singing is sweet and non intrusive. This song may not be really catchy but it's sound catches my attention. His lyrics are poetic and the song is simple but has a catch where the detail in the guitar sings out.

Run Boy - Hey River

Holy crap this song is catchy! Put it on repeat and go for a jog. "I still hear you, Hey River! I won't stop! I'm still running!" Great motivation. This song is just too adorable. If it doesn't make you say "aww" under your breath at least once, you're doing it wrong. The music video is funny though. My favorite part is the cat. The most awkward part is when I watched this for the first time, I left the room and someone else started watching it and I came in to see the girl dancing in her underwear and asked what happened to my music video. "This is the music video you had playing." Ok.

Uma Thurman - Fall Out Boy

These awesome songs by Fall Out Boy just keep appearing again and again and each one is better than the last. When this album comes out, it'll be just amazing. This song made me look up Uma Thurman and how there's a dance. So yeah. You people out there won't feel awkward when you hit the dance floor and say to yourselves "I really like this song but I don't know how to move my body correctly to show how much I appreciate it. I wish it was like the Cupid Shuffle in how it ould tell me how to move..." My absolute favorite part of this song is the beachy tune that they seem to mix in so well that it wakes you up amidst their usual great styling.

Band of the Week - Bear Hands

Bear Hands is the Band of the Week as they have a unique sound. The lead singer, Dylan Rau uses his voice in a lot of whispering as he talks fast and the lyrics are witty. You may have heard their songs Agora and Giants (if you haven't, here are the links for Giants and Agora already reviewed on my site). Their newest album, Distraction, has a more modern sound to fit what's popular this year while keeping their interesting and own kind of party style. Their other album, Burning Bush Supper Club, has a really neat sound. I suggest listening to their songs The BugCrime Pays, and What a Drag.

Bike Ride - The Brobecks

This song makes ya turn up!!! No, seriously, it's so soft it's hard to hear. You can hear it but I always end up cranking it cause it deserves to be heard loud. The main chorus is extremely catchy and so fun to sing along to. The reason it may be so soft could be to go with the lyric "Well I know you can't hear me too well the TV is up too loud". Could someone please turn off that TV he is talking about? I like my jams. The chorus is pretty awesome. I know when I'm in hell, I would want to tell everyone. The people that care are often the people that can't help though. But the one that can change will not either. Because here's a piece of advice, if there's a person causing problems in your life, and you find out that they are stupid, beware. Because stupid will be too stupid to change.

Thanks For Nothing - The Downtown Fiction

There is literally so much sass in this song that it's so fabulous. There could not have been any other better way of wording those emotions. The straight up not dancing around the bush and just outright saying how you feel is what makes this song beautiful and it should be everyone's theme song. Maybe lately it's been running through my head a little too often but when there is someone you see every day who likes to try to get everyone's attention just to publicly embarrass you, they better remember they started it when they have to cry about their new found problems and pains. What goes around comes around, especially to rude b****es.

She's a Devil - Fire & the Romance

This melodic and mesmerizing piano tune that starts the song hypnotizes you into listening to the mysterious story that Fire & the Romance spins in She's a Devil. The drum beat is interesting and jigging for a good dance beat. The lead singer, Dion Roy, sings this song with a low and mysterious voice that pulls you in even further. The guitar starting brings in a light to this darkening and mysterious song. The music video is interesting with their scene star, Alexa Poletti. The beginning scene with the friend getting rufied is great because it shows that sometimes girls can be jerks too. The whole mind game is great and Alexa Poletti just adds an entire cute factor to the video. All I could think of when I saw those glow rings was how many cereal boxes she must have had to buy to get that many flashlight rings.

Irresistible - Fall Out Boy

This song starts off with trumpets sounding victory that then lead into a tune that makes it jump forward into now. This song feels like badassery. If you've ever been a badass, this was your theme song whether you knew it or not. The long notes in the chorus is where it catches you into its excitement. The breakdowns in the song are in just the right places that it gives you a break from the constant awesomeness that you may otherwise become too used to. I actually do also love the masochistic themes in the lyrics. The lyrics "I still love the way you hurt me, baby" are interesting in particular to me. And as always, a salute to their drummer, Andy Hurley, for continuing to have a great beat that carries the song on its shoulders and giving it the back bone that makes it an awesome rock song.

EP of the Week - Misterwives EP - Misterwives

This EP has a unique and thrilling sound. They have an amazing sound that just sounds like a good time. They have an upbeat theme with some pleasant electro sounds. Their lead singer, Mandy Lee, has an amazing voice that is especially flaunted in the beginning of Reflections. It is so light and pretty and you learn to appreciate how talented she is whenever the song comes on in your car and every passenger makes their attempt. No one I know has even come close to her talent and I know a couple people who pass out their head shots to every one they meet looking for a manager in the music world. There are people who got it and people who don't and Misterwives has got it. I look forward to seeing more of their music.

Album of the Week - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? - The Unicorns

Album of the Week is Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? by The Unicorns. This album may be old but i's still good. The Unicorns have a nice sense of humor in their lyrics and song placement especially since their first dong in the album is I Don't Wanna Die and the last one is called Ready to Die. They have a certain way of making their music chill yet also at the same time makes you just want to rock out. I love all the titles of their songs involving ghosts and unicorns and death. It just makes them easier to remember. Of course I suggest for you to listen to I Was Born (A Unicorn) but I also suggest Jellybones and Ready to Die.

Be Impressive - The Griswolds

The chanting of the children is just too catchy in a completely non creepy way. The style of The Griswolds is just too much fun. I've heard this song played at parties and everyone just chants along to the kids because we can't really tell what the rest of the song is saying but just be impressive. This song does succeed in being impressive as does this band.
